A range of essential numbering services

Number administration has been a cornerstone of Neustar’s business since 1996, when we rose to the many challenges of implementing local number portability (LNP) in response to a U.S. government mandate. Today, our palette has expanded to include a range of essential numbering services:

• We administer LNP throughout the United States and Canada as the operator of the Number Portability Administration Center (NPAC). We also launched wireless number portability to much of the North American market in 2003.
• We have administered the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) since 1997. The NANP uses area codes and telephone numbers to direct telephone calls to specific regions on a public switched telephone network.
• We have been the official Number Pooling administrator since 2001. Number pooling has created much more flexibility in the creation, usage and longevity of area codes and telephone numbers across North America.
